Oh The Relationship Twenty.

Well, I haven’t quite gained twenty pounds. But I feel like I have. On the outside, I look the same. But in the past 10 months, things have – well – shifted. I remember back in January I bought a pair of jeans because my only two pair that still fit, were getting a little snug. So I wanted a “just in case I expand” pair. That pair is now snug. Wonderful. Sometimes I have to unbutton my pants after I eat, just so I can sit comfortably at my desk at work. And I cant believe I am sharing this with the bloggy world.

My poor boyfriend. He used to love my hereditary chin waddle (all my sisters have it) and now he is probably wishing he didn’t show it so much love, given its doubled in size.

Or second guessing his saturday morning donut runs.

Yesterday I stayed home from work. Why you ask? Because I “threw my back out.” Whatever that means. Basically Ive been moving stuff and people a lot this month or two, I have bad posture, and I don’t work out. So its only natural that when I bent over to pick up a pillow, excruciating pain shot up my back. Mind you, Im only 30. And a half.

So, I took it as a wake up call. Time to get myself back into some sort of healthy regimen. I bought enough stuff to make breakfast smoothies this week, had a giant salad for lunch, and will take full advantage of my free gym at my apartment complex. By the time summer is over, Im hoping to feel like a million bucks. Yes, I missed the “before summer” boat, whatever.

And yes, that last bite of salad I just had was pretty much all cheese and bacon. Don’t judge me.

  1. You can do it! And sometimes we all need that bite of delicious extra salad toppings because if not why is life worth living?

  3. yuuummmm cheese and bacon.... that's my kind of salad.... and i'm TOTALLY with you on the whole gaining weight.... although the weight gain isn't topping charts, the body is DEFINITELY not that "silhouette" he spoke so highly of when we first met. =( but WHY is it SO hard to commit to working out?! i start and i'll do good for about a week and then i'm over it. in fact, not only do i get over the whole workout thing, but then i go into the kitchen and stuff my face with like 3 brownies.... almost as if to say EFF YOU workout! EFF YOU sexy body! i'm going to WELCOME this freakin muffintoppy silhouette. =( bleh. i missed the "before summer" boat too.... i think i overslept.... or was eating brownies.

  4. I'm in the same boat right now - a winter of sitting on my ass, eating has meant EVERYTHING is tight! Ick! So I'm trying to eat only good things (well mostly...) and exercise more for summer. If you do want a treat though I can thoroughly recommend Kashi Raspberry and chocolate fruit and grain bars. OMG. I'm not a granola bar person but those are so effing good I believe I'd take them OVER a regular candy bar anyday. And at 130 cals and full of mainly healthy stuff they are a fine treat for the sugar craving.

Damn you though. Cheese and bacon. My two favourite things. :(

  5. You are cracking me up through this whole post! I think we've all been there at one time or another. Don't get too bent out of shape over it, just take your time getting into a routine that makes you feel healthy. ☺

  6. lol, I totally know what you're going through. I look in the mirror & see the same girl my husband married but the only difference is she's 20 lbs heavier. I blame fast food. It's fast, easy & SO good. I think I might jump on the slimming down badwagon with you cause I can't deal with unbuttoning my pants on the drive home anymore, haha.

  8. Good for you! I need to get back on the fitness boat myself. I can't even blame my recent weight gain on a relationship! Which is way more sad, in my opinion. =) Be sure to keep us posted, as your motivation could become our motivation!

  10. IN buying new duds to work out in and a new video to work out to....isn't that enough? I'll just sit here at my computer, read a few more blogs and have a peice of pie. I'll figure it out after that.
    :-)

Good luck with your getting back on track! I nodded in agreement while reading your entire post!

  13. The important thing is not to cut yourself off completely from the things you enjoy. Ease into it, and you'll find it easier to maintain over time. Easier said than done. i just had pancakes for dinner--but they were oatmeal-based!

  16. Try out the WiiFit. The thing about it is that it tells you if your off balance so when you play the fun games, you're actually correcting posture and strengthening muscles... and you don't even know it! Win-win.
