Unconditional.

Ive had a pretty interesting week, emotionally. While celebrating my friends nuptials last Friday evening, we found out the boyfriend’s brother has a brain tumor. Im supposed to be the strong one in this situation, holding him up allowing him to break down. But I was quite the opposite. I was a bawling mess, and he was comforting me. Standing out on the dance floor, dancing to the couples dance, crying my eyes out, for the wrong reasons given the time and place. But to any strangers, I just looked like I was crying tears of joy.

The situation has since taken a turn for the somewhat better. Its looking like everything might be ok, but at the same time, its still a scary situation. We’ll know more in the coming weeks.

I wasn’t going to talk about it here. We have the support of our good friends and family. But then I realized, although virtually, your thoughts and words can often be comforting to me. Strange, considering I wouldn’t know if I was standing next to you in an elevator. And yet, I feel like some of you could be a good friend, if we ever met.

Its funny. You never realize how much you truly love someone, until something happens to their immediate family, and it completely rocks your own world.

  1. While each and every situation is unique, I survived having a benign, quarter sized tumor removed from the base of my brain when I was 12 y/o and consider myself to be on my "2nd life" ever since then.

Hang in there and keep positive thoughts, always :)

  6. I can only imagine how scary this must be for all of you! So very glad to hear that situation has taken a positive turn, but you will still be in my prayers...you, the boyfriend and his brother.

And don't beat yourself up for not being "the strong one in this situation". The fact that you are so emotional says so much about how deeply you love the boyfriend. And that is probably giving him more strength than you know :)

  15. Seriously, the emails, tweets and comments of my *virtual* friends kept me going when my grandma passed away. The thought that strangers care about what happens to you is way uplifting.

    *virtual hugs and hope*

  20. i know what you mean. i started my blog because i wanted to get feedback from others in regards to my writing and wanting to write screenplays and that somehow meant more than my friends and family telling me they liked how i wrote.

anyway i look at 'blogdom' differently than most because i swear i can literally 'feel' a difference in what some people write and what it means to them/you. meaning my heart breaks for you and i, kinda like you said, could have passed by you before and not even known it.
